July 6 Tournament Recap:
This was one of our best tournaments to date - 10 gallons of Gatorade, 100 homemade Chocolate Chip Cookies, $240 in gift card prizes and 29 teams! Teams came from places as far as Baltimore, Oklahoma, Kansas, Baton Rouge, Georgia, Alabama & Tennessee. Seacrest Spikeball is becoming a favorite vacation past-time! We are now having retuning vacationers from earlier in the summer or last year that are on the lookout for a scheduled tournament. Plus, the sponsors just keep bringing the goods. Thank you so much to the generosity of Pizza By The Sea, La Cocina, Shades Bar & Grill, Ticheli’s Seacrust Pizza and The Sweet Peddler for offering prizes to our final 8 teams. Awesome!
Tournament Teams (and once again, the team names are just terrific!): Oklahoma Boys, Big Spikeballer Brand, Redneck Yacht Club, The Beach Buddies, Humbums, The Spikin’ Irish, Average Joes, Who’s Your Daddy, MOB Town Hitters, Derfwins, Team Claire, Half of It; Baby, Bubba & The Bear; The Big Dogs, The Yachter’s, Brad & Mel, Bickenspikers, Lagniappe, The Donks, SCPD, Blue Baller’s, Spiketater’s, Up in Here, Globogym Purple Cobras, Wacky Waving Inflatable Flailing Arm Tube Men, Koolkats, The Lightning, Nike, Adidas.
Just like usual, teams are divided into pools and they play a round-robin style of pool play. We keep us with wins, losses and scores from the pool games and use this to seed teams into a bracket. Pool games are to 15 (must win by 2) and then, once bracket play begins, the bracket is single elimination, games to 21, must win by 2. There were some great games and bracket play yielded a very competitive final 8 – Who’s Your Daddy, Lagnaippe, The Donks, Spiketaters, Yachter’s, Beach Buddies, Red Neck Yacht Club, Brad & Mel. When the final 4 emerged, we were left with Who’s Your Daddy versus Spiketaters and Yachter’s versus Red Neck Yacht Club. Red Neck Yacht Club would go on to win it all with a win over Who’s Your Daddy. The Yachters and Spiketater’s would take 3rd and 4th place, respectively. The Winners and Final 4 are pictured below. It was a really great event! Not only did we have almost 50 people playing, we had another 40 or so spectators.

June 30 Tournament Recap:
Due to Rain, we moved a Thursday tournament to a Friday and had a great turnout of 20 teams. Once again, there was a great mix of experience levels and ages. We had 4 young rookie teams show up and battle it out in the rookie pool! Great job to Team Konna, Team Not So Konna, The 30A Ballers and Team Don't Know - you guys keep at it! We also saw a returning tournament champ from last July - The Empire Spikes Back, a skilled father/daughter duo - The Beauty and The Beast, a set of parent and children rivals (who did indeed end up eliminating one another) - Team Mondo Burger and Team Good Burger, as well as other great pairs such as The Kentuckians, Roll Tide, The Arkansas Dwarf Giants, Team Rudd, The Dream Team, 30A Thunder, KY Kings, Mother Russia, The Johnsons, Wascally Wards, and The Golden State Cavaliers. Teams were divided into 4 pools like usual for round robin pool play and then seeded into a single elimination tournament bracket. The rookie pool yielded a play-in game that sent Team Don't Know into the tournament bracket. Pool games are played to 15, with a win by 2 point rule. Once the bracket begins, games are played to 21 and teams must win by 2. There were some great battles! For instance, a round one game went all the way to a 27 to 25 finish when The Johnson's were eliminated by Team Rudd, who would make it to the final 4. As the bracket played on, a final four was determined - Team Rudd, Golden State Cavaliers, Mondo Burger and The Empire Spikes Back. Golden State would prevail over Team Rudd and The Empire would reign over Mondo Burger. Team Rudd beat Mondo Burger for 3rd place bragging rights in the consolation game. In the final game, The Empire Spikes Back would Take down The Golden State Cavaliers. It was a great tournament! Thanks to the generation of our sponsors, 5 teams were awarded gift cards! A worthy final 8 team was given gift cards to Barbacoa for a free meal. Each individual on teams placing 2nd, 3rd and 4th were given $25 gift cards to La Cocina, Love to Run and Freshii. That's $50 to each team :)!! First place was treated to $30 gift cards each to Pizza By The Sea. Thank you local businesses for supporting Seacrest Spikeball!! May 28 Tournament Recap:
Memorial Day weekend, we hosted the first Seacrest Spikeball tournament of the 2017 summer season, sponsored by La Cocina Mexcian Restaurant. We had a great turnout of 19 teams comprised of young and old, males and females and a range of spikeball experience. Teams are always put into pools where they play a round robin with each team in their pool. Then, based on those standings, teams are seeded into a single elimination bracket. As per the usual, the tournament team names are always a highlight. We saw The Cougars, Kiss My Ace, Hot Tamales, Sonova Beach, The Law, ATL, Roswell Paladins, Ball Boys, Sausage Party, Risky Business, The Boilers … just to name a few. However, as the bracket played on, 4 teams remained – Big Spike Baller Brand, The Smelly Cats, The Gooks and Peace in the Middle East. Big Spike Baller Brand would go on to win it all in a nail biter versus Peace in the Middle East. The Smelly Cats would take 3rd place in a consolation game versus the Gooks who nabbed 4th place. This was the most competitive final four we have seen since we began hosting tournaments. Thanks to our generous sponsors, all final four teams walked away with great prizes for their efforts. Both 1st and 2nd place received $50 to La Cocina Restaurant, the official sponsor of Seacrest Spikeball. Bueno! One of our newest sponsors, Love to Run, located at 30A Venue, treated 3rd place to a $50 gift card and 4th place walked away with free pizza from Pizza by the Sea, a regular tournament sponsor. Thanks to everyone who participated, spectated and sponsored. You made it a great event!
